It's no secret that drinking water is good for you and necessary for your body's health - but even with that knowledge, the fact is that most adults just aren't drinking enough. According to experts, adult women should be drinking 91 ounces per day, while men should be drinking 125 ounces per day. So, what are people actually drinking? Well according to statistics from the CDC, adults in general only drink 39 ounces per day. Obviously, that is nowhere near enough.

So, what's the problem with not drinking enough water? There are a number of things you can start to experience, such as a headache, difficulty focusing and concentrating, and low energy. You will start to feel tired, and it can affect your mood in a negative way. So, how can you ensure that you are drinking enough water? Not to worry as we’ve got five tips that will help you boost your daily water intake.

Tips to Help You Boost Your Water Intake

Install a Countertop Water Filtration System

First things first, you need access to clean fresh water on-demand. Rather than purchasing bottled water and adding to the amount of waste in landfills, why not install a countertop water filter system. These sit right on your kitchen counter and filter the water on-demand, taking out all the impurities. Just be sure to also keep a stock of countertop water filters in storage so you can ensure the water quality is perfect at all times.

Start Using a Reusable Water Bottle

The next tip is to start using a reusable water bottle that has measurements on it. Fill it up to start your day so you can keep track of how much you have drunk. You may need to refill it multiple times in a day, depending on the size of the bottle. Keep it with you at all times so it’s convenient to take sips.

Use a Water Reminder App

There are also fitness apps that will remind you to drink water. They will allow you to adjust the settings so the amount of water and the time period can be customized.

Drink Water with Your Meals

Instead of reaching for juice, coffee, tea, or soda during a meal, make water your beverage of choice. This will obviously help increase your overall daily intake, plus it’s a healthier option than the other beverages mentioned.

If you are also trying to watch your calories, another tip is to drink a full glass of water before your meal. This will fill you up faster, which means you will likely eat less calories.

Add Natural Flavor to the Water

For many people, the big problem is that water isn’t very exciting or tasty to drink. If that’s how you feel, then you can add natural flavors to your water. You can add a handful of fresh berries, some citrus fruit slices, cucumber, or even your favorite herb such as basil or mint to your water.
